Elect Marvin Sannes for House District 21

(Salem) Marvin Sannes of Salem announced he is seeking the Republican nomination in the upcoming May Primary Election for District 21 in the Oregon House of Representatives.

“This is a critical election year,” said Sannes. “We need to elect new leadership to take our state in a positive direction.”

The 65-year old Sannes grew up in Mt. Angel and graduated from Portland State University. He’s been married 40 years, has four children (“we lost Erick in 2001″) and two grandchildren. Sannes currently owns and manages commercial and residential property. His past work experience includes running a youth shelter and owning a pesticide application company. [...]

Students help spruce up old city hall building

WEST SALEM — It was a perfect setting for youth helping the old, only in this case the latter was the old West Salem City Hall on Edgewater Street.

On May 29, before the day heated up, Marvin Sannes welcomed the arrival of a half dozen Chemeketa Community College students, members of Peter Starr’s Community Service and Leadership class. The students made short work of the creeping ivy in front of the building, then helped out with the spreading of bark dust, landscaping and a variety of other chores.

Sannes, the building’s owner, was not the only beneficiary. The primary intention was to give Community Action Head Start a helping hand. Head Start has a facility and playground for 3- and 4-year-olds at the site, which it has occupied for almost two years. [...]
